| PROGRAMMING |

The Montpelier Police Department strives to keep our citizens informed and up-to-date with information regarding the "how-to's" of safety, as well as the programs we offer.

Resource:"a source, supply, support, or aid, especially one that can be readily drawn upon when needed" (Online Etymology Dictionary).

One problem in many communities is that members often forget to inquire with their local agencies to see how they can help. If you ask one question when planning events, critical incident response plans, or with general question, it should be "who is going to be at my door first for an emergency?" Well, our agency is a 24-hour a day, 365 days a year operation. We have a diverse group of officers, many who have college level educations, specialized training beyond that of the state academy and advanced equipment to accomplish our goals.

We are capable of not only responding to community needs in times of trouble, but capable of designing programs around your needs. And, if we can't do it we WILL connect you with people who can. We care about our community and it is important for us to be able to provide you with services beyond that of typical respond and arrest.

What can we do for you? Officers at this agency are sent to various specialized trainings instructed by expert proessionals from across the nation and world. They are also encouraged to reach out on their own to develop more knowledge which can be used for their jobs. As said, we have highly educated officers on staff. Several offiers have bachelor degrees in a version of criminal justice and the Chief of Police holds a Master Degree in Public Administration. We have officers who have specialized training in topcs such as Child Sexual Exploitation Investigations, robbery and theft, the first certified School Resource Officer in the county, technology investigations, tactical training, Active Shooter, self-defense, driving, and more!

We've offered training to both public and private organizations many times which have included such topics as Personal Protection, Identity Theft, Bullying, Sexting, AARP Driving, Rape Aggression Defense, bank personnel training, anti-theft (children's programming), personal respect (children's programming) and other programs specifically requested.

We also have officers who complete private training such as firearms, self-defense, leadership, Active Shooter and more.
