Montpelier Municipal Utilities Earns Diamond RP3 Designation
Montpelier Municipal Utilities has earned a Diamond designation Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for providing reliable and safe electric service to the Village of Montpelier.
The RP3 designation lasts for three years and recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement. Criteria include sound business practices and a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. Montpelier Municipal Utilities joins more than 250 public power utilities nationwide that hold the RP3 designation.
RP3 designees complete a demanding application which is completed over the course of several months and applicants must meet a minimum score to achieve one of the three levels of designation: Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Montpelier Municipal Utilities has been a three time Platinum level designee, and for the first time has now received the Diamond level – the highest level of achievement.
“We are incredibly proud to earn this distinguished designation” said Jason Rockey, Village Manager of the Village of Montpelier. “We go to work every day to ensure reliable service to this community, and it’s nice to see this hard work recognized on the national level.”
The American Public Power Association has offered the RP3 designation for 21 years. APPA is the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power 55 million people in approximately 2,000 towns and cities nationwide. APPA advocates and advises on electricity policy, technology, trends, training, and operations.
