| A.L.E.R.T. TEAM |
In 2014, the Montpelier Police Department instituted a new response division known as the Advanced Law Enforcement Resource and Tactics (A.L.E.R.T.) Team.
Due to the escalating needs of the public, the Montpelier Police Department has committed itself to being able to provide as many services and to be as flexible as possible. Our committment is to you and that means we must be prepared. Active violence, drug trafficking, and the countless warrants for service are a driving force behind this specialized need.
Team Training 2020
The A.L.E.R.T. Team will be comprised of selected officers of this agency who will be given advanced training time in various areas of specialized operations. The A.L.E.R.T. Team will conduct special operations such as warrant services, search/rescue, and even dignitary protection. The A.L.E.R.T. Team has conducted many operations since it's inception, with many arrests being made and no injuries reported.
Use of Mobile Command at Raid Scene
The A.L.E.R.T. Team is available for use by any agency in Williams County, at their request. In 2020, MPD opened up membership to surrounding local agencies, if any officer on their department would like to become an active member of the team. This allows other agencies to have a direct connection to this resource. Any officer from a Williams County law enforcment agency interested in becoming a team member must apply to MPD, and have certain minimum qualifications. Team members train in various aspects of special response, including specialized weapons, formations, and specialized tools. If interested, Contact Chief Dan McGee at dan.mcgee@montpelieroh.org.
